USA & NERFU Coaching Development program

USA Rugby and the New England Rugby Union are presenting the 2011 New England Rugby’s Coaching Confernce at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Mass. August 13-14, 2011

USA Rugby's Coach Development Program (CDP) is designed to develop coaches and provide them with the latest coaching tools and techniques. Through better coaches and coaching we can develop better players and improve the game at all levels. USA Rugby Coach Certification is a combination of online learning and face-to-face workshops that are designed to give coaches opportunities to demonstrate their skills and competency in a variety of coaching tasks.

Introducing Rugby Workshop: This course is designed for coaches that spend most of their time introducing the game to new players. It is ideal for high school head coaches and college and club assistant coaches. The focus is being able to implement the fundamentals of the game to players that have little or no experience.

Developing Rugby Skills Workshop: This course is designed for coaches focused on working with players with experience and aspiring to help those players play at a higher level. The course work is ideal for head coaches and those that are involved in club and all-star play. There is an emphasis on identifying key factors, practice planning, game sense and skill development.

NERFU RUGBY COACHING SEMINAR
This program will be geared for Senior Level coaches, or for those coaches that have already taken previous USA Rugby Coaching Certification Courses. This program has been recognized by USA Rugby as counting towards Rugby Continued Education Credits.
Guest Speaker this year is Stephen Aboud, the Irish Rugby Union’s Coach Development Manager and is responsible for the design & management of the National Coach Development Program in Ireland.

Cost for this program is $235 (which includes Accommodation Packet.)

May 7 - 8, 2011 at the Anderson Rugby Complex on the campus of the United States Military Academy.

Championships will be held in three divisions: Boys U19, Girls U19 and Boys High School. The winners of each division will represent the Northeast in USA Rugby's U19 & High School Championships.

Womens D2 Club Championships

The 2010 NRU Womens D2 Club Championships will be held October 23-24 in Portland Maine, hosted by the Portland Womens Rugby Club.

Parking:
Parking is available to the left or right of the building across the street from the fields, and along the side of Fox Street. When teams arrive, there should be people directing you to available parking spaces. Bus/overflow parking will be at the Marginal Way Park-N-Ride, which is about 2 blocks away.

Facilities:
There will be port-o-potties at the field. There is also a Whole Foods less than a block away with a public restroom. There will be tshirts for sale, as well as concessions. There will be ice and basic first aid supplies available for teams, if necessary. When you arrive, we will have tournament packets with information on local restaurants, activities, etc. If you need information on hotels or other amenities beforehand, please email me.

Administration:
When your team arrives, please have people meet in the concessions area so that NRU officials can check rosters and player photo IDs. Also, if possible, please let the host club contact know how many people are on your roster ahead of time, so they can plan for parking/social/etc.

Social:
There will be hosting a social immediately following the games on Saturday. The social wil be at G&R Dimillos, located at 118 Preble Street in Portland, Maine (about three blocks from the field - we'll hand out directions at the pitch on Saturday).

Portland Womens Rugby ass able to get the following "rugby special": $0.99 Miller drafts and 2 for 1 pizzas. Portland is planning to provide one drink ticket for each player/coach (over the age of 21), which can be redeemed before 6pm on Saturday night. The "rugby special" will continue all night.
