3/20/2007 - NRU Appoints Richard Ashfield U23 Head Coach
The Northeast Rugby Union has named Richard Ashfield Head Coach of the NRU Women’s U23 All-Star team.

Ashfield is currently the head coach of Providence College Women’s Rugby, winners of USA Rugby’s 2005 Women’s College D2 championship. Ashfield also currently coaches the Rhode Island Select Side, and has coached Providence WRFC, Providence RFC, the NRU U19’s, and Holy Cross College Men.

Assisting Ashfield will be Tony Brown, current head coach of the Vassar College Men and Women's Rugby program and College Coordinator for the Met NY RFU.

The team will be managed by Kelly Fogarty, a member of the Providence Rugby Club and a former member of the NYS U23 squad and the Albany Sirens.

Rounding out the staff is trainer Katherine D. Henry, ATC, LAT, CSCS, EMT. Henry is currently employed at the Ullucci Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy and has previously worked with the Brown Women’s Rugby Club in 2005 and the Providence College Women’s Rugby Club in 2006.

Ashfield’s appointment will run through the 2008 U23 National Championships.
